As a small firm we have a very transparent approach with our team and while encouraging you to be self-managing and take ownership of your portfolio, Blair (Director of the Company) is also happy to jump in and help develop solutions that best service our clients, but is equally passionate about building your knowledge base in this space at the same time.
About the role:
This is an opportunity for a highly efficient and communicative Chartered Accountant to use their superpowers to their advantage. As a firm that promotes outstanding quality and customer service to a wide range of clients, to be successful in this role it is critical that you have the ability to engage proactively with your clients when they need our help. We pride ourselves on being able to provide solutions that are considered, creative and practical, yet customised to our clients needs, and is looking for someone who has the ability to mirror this but in their own authentic way. You will do this by:
Actively engaging with our clients by telephone and in person
Preparing financial statements and tax returns
Preparation and filing of GST returns and other miscellaneous returns with IRD
Providing technical assistance and support to clients
Providing advice on enhancing profitability and using technology for efficiency
Being the main contact point for your clients for day-to-day enquiries
As someone who will implement a pragmatic approach through your advisory and honed accounting skills, it is also important that you are confident in building relationships, having robust conversations with your clients and are happy to pick up the phone to figure things out. With your engaging relationship building capabilities, proactive nature and ability to build trusted working relationships, you will aid in taking the stress out of business management for those clients who may not be as financially minded. To be successful in this role, you will have;
Qualifications & Experience
Previous experience in a similar role with a completed CA qualification - minimum of 4 years experience
An adeptness at preparing financial statements and tax returns in accordance with NZ Tax Law
In-depth knowledge of best practice initiatives while keeping up to date on accounting legislation and developments
Xero expertise, including preparing annual reports and workpapers
Outstanding communication, presentation and ownership skills
Strong organisational and time management capabilities, along with sharp analytical and problem-solving capabilities
An analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and be motivated to achieve desired results.
