In addition to our advocacy work, HTRHN administers the government funded Rural Recruitment and Locum Support contract through its NZLocums division.
HTRHN has also been awarded a contract from the government to establish a locum service for Rural Hospitals throughout New Zealand.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, this full-time position based in Wellington, will be responsible for building on the early establishment phase of this service. Once established, the Tema Leader - Rural Health Locums Service will have responsibility for overseeing and monitoring the day-to-day operations and performance against the Rural Hospital Locums contract with Government and will be accountable to the Chief Executive for the achievement of key performance measures and deliverables. The Team Leader will be the day-to-day point of contact for all enquiries in relation to this contract.
In addition, the Team Leader has responsibility to build, manage and facilitate relationships with both candidates and hospitals who are using, or are eligible to use, the recruitment and placement services for Rural Hospital Locums throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. This needs to be carried out in a manner that enables HTRHN to fulfil its contractual obligations and strategic objectives.
Some travel will be required to visit rural hospitals and to attend domestic and international conferences.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Experience working in industry recruitment
Experience working with Immigration New Zealand and the Medical Council of New Zealand
An understanding of credentialing of medical staff working in rural hospitals
