Techion achieves this purpose by disrupting traditional industries which rely on simple microscopes and skilled technicians. They work alongside large industry partners and research partners to transform microscopic particle intelligence gathering and analysis.
The Role:
This is a newly created role, reporting to the Managing Director, and is based at Invermay in Dunedin. Techion is at a stage where it is pivoting from a primary focus on R&D to business development, commercialisation, and technology refinement.
The primary focus of this role is the leadership and management of Techion’s operational business and overview of its group financial processes, analytics, and reporting. The General Manager will have the autonomy to lead the New Zealand executive leadership team to execute the Techion business plan. The role will also lead the management and consolidation of the financial systems for the Techion group of companies.
Further key responsibilities include:
Provide inspired leadership
Ownership of the operational and financial performance of the New Zealand Techion business (sales, lab, R&D and manufacture)
Leadership of the financial and reporting systems across Techion’s group of companies
Communication and team contribution (both internal and external parties)
Report regularly to the Managing Director
Performance of budgeting and forecasting systems
Timely reporting and presentation of information
To be successful in this role you will need: To apply for the General Manager role at Techion, you will need to have proven experience in a GM / executive role, with ideally 5+ years of tenure. Strong financial acumen is required and you will have a proven track record of leading high performing businesses.
The role will suit a ‘people person’ and competent communicator, who supports the value of strong leadership in a high-performance culture. A leader who enjoys a fast moving and agile business environment, developing and manufacturing leading edge products for a range of customers across a global market. Previous experience in a rapid growth, early-stage business environment would be advantageous.
Team leadership, communication, culture and accountability
Financial – oversee financial systems & ability to interrogate financials reports
Overview of budgeting and forecasting procedures, consolidating of annual accounts
Ability to make high level decisions in a timely manner and action the outcomes
Production/manufacturing planning and management
Self-driven and energetic
Ability to identify and address problems (risks) and opportunities
Staff recruitment and interviewing skills
Relationship building with customers and key influencers
Business systems analytics, modelling and development
Policy oversight and development – especially pricing and contract management
Legal – ability to understand legal documents
