Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

The Programme Manager, Mental Health & Addiction (MH&A) Transformation will lead and manage a priority programme of work, in partnership with their national and regional mentally well colleagues and maori health colleagues, to implement a MH&A transformation programme of work to radically improve Māori Health, eliminate inequities and implement the Oranga Hinengaro System and Service Framework .

This role is based in the Te Waipounamu Region made up of Nelson Marlborough, Canterbury, South Canterbury, West Coast and Southern. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.

Demonstrated experience in managing a range of competing programme priorities using programme management methodologies.

Knowledge of MH&A sector.

Experience in delivering on large change programmes

Experience driving & delivery of work programmes and project planning to ensure delivery of work on time, and within budget.

Experience ensuring sound governance of the programme and best practice underpinning priorities and deliverables.

Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.

Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes and develop/recommend responses in consultation with key stakeholders.

The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers.
