Southwood Export Ltd (SWEL) is a forestry management, milling and export business which has proudly been in operation for more than 40 years.

The business is looking for a Forest Harvesting & Engineering Manager to join their team. Reporting to the recently appointed General Manager, you would be responsible for management of the company’s harvesting and engineering operations around the Southland region.

SWEL has a strong focus on health and safety and you would be uncompromising in your leadership, ensuring staff and contractors get home safe each day. Other responsibilities of this key role include:

Supervision of contracted forest crews and their performance, ensuring production targets are achieved

Procurement and ongoing management of contracts

Oversight of construction and maintenance of roading

Environmental compliance

Financial and budget management

For success in this role you will have:

BEng or comparable industry experience

Proven experience in harvest planning and management, as well as roading experience

Proficiency in GIS mapping Excellent organisational skills, in particular time management

Project management experience

A high level of enthusiasm and self-motivation.

With strong customer relationship and communication skills you would work effectively with our staff, contractors, clients and other stakeholders.
