Opportunity to join new Patient at Risk team within our Critical Care Unit
Our Critical Care Unit at Southland Hospital is an open unit secondary Critical Care Unit and it is on an exciting journey of growth and development.
Through the provision of new Critical Care funding from the Ministry of Health, we are in the process of aligning our secondary level unit with the College of Intensive Care Medicine, Medical and Nursing staffing standards.
Our primary goal is to rapidly increase our capacity and capability, moving from our current 1 x ICU level bed & 5 HDU / Coronary Care beds to 3 x ICU and 3x HDU / Coronary level beds to better meet the secondary Critical Care needs for Southland patients.
It is an exciting time to be part of Critical Care in Te Waipounamu (the South Island) as the regional clinical network is forming.
We are seeking experienced Senior Critical Care Nurses with recent contemporary Critical Care experience to join us through this period of intense change.

Mō te tūranga About the role
Reporting to the ACNM for Patient at Risk team (PaR)
Rotating 8 hour shifts Monday to Sunday
Strive for excellence in clinical services and focuses on patient centred care,
Use advanced clinical skills to identify patients at risk and work closely with the primary teams to monitor and implement interventions to prevent deterioration.
Provide specialist PaR nursing care and expertise both in direct care delivery,
Mentor staff so they too gain further knowledge and skill,
Act in the roles of clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, leader / change agent and care coordinator / case manager in the pursuit of clinical excellence and improved health outcomes.
Supported to complete the required NZ outreach nurse competency assessment.
Mōu ake About you
Current Nursing council registration and APC
Proven clinical nursing experience in acute or critical care, ED / ICU / HDU
Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications.
Advanced learning and contemporary knowledge in either Acute Care, HDU, ED or ICU nursing.
Current Core Advanced certification or the ability to complete as soon as possible after appointment.
Hold Level 4 or Senior Nurse PDRP or level 3 and working towards level 4.

Utu whānui Salary range
This role belongs to the Te Whatu Ora / NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Grade 2 Step 1 ($112,660 p.a. pro-rata) and Grade 2 Step 3 ($123,955 p.
a. pro-rata of the Senior Nurse Salary Scale.
