Rural Women New Zealand (RWNZ) is a membership organisation that has provided support and connection for rural women, their families and communities since 1925 across Aotearoa New Zealand. At a national level, RWNZ is a credible sought after voice for rural women and community representation.

RWNZ is a charitable incorporated society governed by a Board, which is elected by a diverse nationwide membership of 1,600 and growing. Support and administration are provided to members from the National Office based on Victoria Street, Wellington.

The Chief Executive we are seeking will be a strong, inclusive leader who brings a clear, strategic perspective, an innovative approach to organisational growth, and well-honed relationship management skills.

You will lead RWNZ through a period of sustainable growth focussing on membership growth, value proposition and organisational structures. You’ll continue to develop the strong profile of RWNZ by building effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and continue to build a culture of trust, transparency and inclusiveness among staff and the members of RWNZ.

At a practical level, you will instigate, implement and monitor the strategic and annual business plans, assume responsibility and accountability for the successful completion of deliverables, and oversee the optimal performance of a small team.

In 2025, RWNZ will celebrate its 100th anniversary; we are looking for someone with enthusiasm, passion and drive to lead the organisation with vibrancy through sustainable change and growth into the next 100 years!

Person Profile :

Proven ability of achieving organisational goals at an executive level, with experience in supporting a Board; experience as a Chief Executive is preferred

Ability to think strategically, articulate and implement RWNZ’s vision

A growth mindset, with experience in managing organisational growth and change

A connector and collaborator with a track record of success in building and maintaining exceptional stakeholder relationships at all levels

The ability to bridge across generations to inspire confidence and trust

Demonstrated financial and people management expertise

A consultative, constructive and open style with a transparent approach

Very highly developed written and oral communication skills

An understanding of the not for profit sector, and the challenges and opportunities within, would be advantageous

Primary industry and/or rural community leadership experience is favourable
