Writing and drafting of major reports eg monitoring, standard accountability reporting etc

Committed to working in being grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Wellington based role (this may be negotiated with the preferred applicant)

Flexible work from home arrangements as per Te Hiringa Mahara policy

Are you looking for a role that contributes to positive wellbeing on the lives of tangata whenua / Māori and people of Aotearoa? Te Hiringa Mahara (Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission) contributes to better and equitable mental health and wellbeing outcomes for people in Aotearoa. We have leadership and oversight roles of the mental health and addiction system with monitoring and advocacy functions.

Reporting to the Director Māori Health, the Principal Analyst Māori Health team (PAMH) plays a key role in supporting Te Hiringa Mahara as we assess and report on progress with system transformation, monitor mental health and addiction services, and advocate for equitable Māori health outcomes, prioritising the voices of whānau Māori and the collective interests of people with lived experience of mental distress and / or addiction.

As the Principal Analyst, you will provide quality cultural and senior technical advice to ensure that the voices of Māori whānau, hapū, iwi and community are represented and reflected in all that Te Hiringa Mahara does. This role will also contribute, lead and/or support our organisation to advocate for Kaupapa Māori, mātauranga Māori and te ao Māori approaches to toiora/hauora hinengaro (mental health wellbeing) including the collective interests of people who experience mental distress and/or addiction.

You will play an important role in supporting the Director Māori Health in developing and strengthening external stakeholder relationships and engagements with the Māori health sector, Kaupapa Māori providers, Māori Service Leaders, Māori System Leaders, iwi and community.

We are looking for someone who:

has broad networks in the sector and agencies eg Kaupapa Māori Service leaders, Māori mental health and addiction networks, Māori Public Health, Hapori Māori etc.

This is a great time to join our small team and contribute to improving mental health and wellbeing for Māori, our priority population groups, and for all people living in Aotearoa.

As a kaupapa driven and Te Tiriti o Waitangi-grounded organisation, we are committed to fulfilling our responsibility as an independent Crown entity to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and work in partnership with Māori as tangata whenua.

We want our workforce to reflect our communities across Aotearoa and are actively seeking applications from people who represent this diversity.
