This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.

The Gastroenterology service at Tauranga Hospital provides specialist services to people living across the Bay of Plenty. The service provides ambulatory outpatient clinics at both Tauranga and Whakatāne Hospitals, along with participating in the delivery of endoscopy across both sites.

In addition, an acute inpatient service is provided at Tauranga Hospital, alongside an after-hours acute bleeding service.

The Gastroenterology team includes seven Senior Medical Officers, Registrars and advanced training roles, nurse endoscopist and clinical nurse specialist.

Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty commenced participation in the National Bowel Screening in 2022 and is continuing to meet national wait time indicators.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Medical Officer with proficiency in the provision of Gastroenterology specialist care to join our service. The ideal candidate will have experience in delivery of both diagnostic and interventional procedures and enthusiasm to participate in the ongoing development of services for the people of Hauora a Toi.

The role will participate in the delivery of education (undergraduate and postgraduate) and contribute to the supervision and development of advanced trainees (including nurse endoscopists).
