Terms: Permanent Full Time
Based: The 502 Rangatahi Ora – 3 Cobham Court, Porirua
The Counsellor is responsible for the following tasks:
Develop one-on-one counselling sessions to rangatahi at the 502 daily.
Implement appropriate documentation and follow-up on notes of rangatahi.
Recommending necessary support services for rangatahi when required.
Participating in the MDT meetings with the clinical team at the 502.
The AOD Counsellor's role involves offering individual counselling sessions to rangatahi at the 502 daily. These sessions aim to provide guidance and support to the young individuals. Additionally, the AOD Counsellor is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of the rangatahi progress and ensuring that any necessary follow-up actions are taken. If deemed necessary, the Counsellor will also recommend appropriate support services to further assist the rangatahi. Furthermore, the Counsellor is an integral part of the MDT meetings, where they contribute their expertise and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the rangatahi.

Advocacy for the rangatahi
Bachelor’s degree or experiential equivalent, including related tertiary qualification in addictions counselling
Drug and Alcohol Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa New Zealand (DAPAANZ) Registered.
At least 6 months post tertiary qualification experience in related field preferred.
Models of practice and theoretic frameworks
Full and clean Driver License.
Cultural awareness and mana enhancing practices
Experience in Medtech (for drug and alcohol counsellors) Noted preferred.
Working knowledge of office technology and ideally Office 365.
