About the role

We are looking for a Cook (Kaitautoko) – EarlyLearning Centre to join us at our Raroera Te Puāwai Puna Reo on a part time (20 hours per week) basis based in Te Rapa , Hamilton.

You will play a vital role in ensuring that ourTamariki receive nutritious, well-balanced meals that support their growth anddevelopment. You will be responsible for planning and preparing morning tea, lunch,and afternoon tea, following food safety regulations, and maintaining a cleanand organised kitchen.

At times, you may be required to provide additionalsupport on the floor to maintain staff-to-child ratios and ensure a safe and engaginglearning environment.

Aboutyou

You’llbring to this important role:

A Certificate in Food & Beverage Service (Level3) or a related field.

A Food Safety Certificate and jnowledge of the FoodAct 2014 and National Programme 2.

A sound understanding of nutritional needs forTamariki ages 3 months to 5 years old.

The ability to cook 30-50 child portion meals andsnacks daily.

Good physical mobility and the ability to lift,bend and stand for long periods of time.

As this position is classed asa Core Worker, you will need to pass a safety check under the Children’s Act2014.

A soundunderstanding of te reo Māori phrases, mihi and greetings, and Māori values,culture, and tikanga, would be advantageous.As this role is classified as a Core Worker under the Childrens’ Act2014, you will need to undergo police vetting and pass a safety check.
