Looking for a role where you work with clients on functional goals in a community setting?
Share a puzzle with a 7-year-old while targeting fine motor skills.
Navigate a bus trip supporting a teenager with their memory & problem-solving skills.
Educate a teacher and whānau on strategies to support a child with sensory issues.
Advise on equipment to support ADLs in the home.
As part of growth and meeting continued demand strategy, ABC Rehabilitation has an opportunity for an occupational therapist with experience in paediatrics and neurorehabilitation to join our progressive interdisciplinary community team. We are a leader in the field of brain injury rehabilitation and an accredited provider of community-based rehabilitation for clients with multi-trauma, birth-injury, concussion, and traumatic brain injury. There are opportunities to work with clients across a range of ages and injury types in community settings throughout the Auckland region.
Your keys to success:
You love having a positive impact on people’s lives using family-centred models of practice.
You want to provide hands-on, practical assessment and intervention.
You are comfortable working independently, and also enjoy working as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
You have a full driver's license and are comfortable driving across Auckland, as most clients are seen at home/schools.
You are registered with the OT Board of New Zealand and have a current practicing certificate.
You have at least 2 years’ experience working with clients with neurological injuries.
Previous experience in pediatrics, community or neuro rehabilitation or concussion services are preferable.
You will be provided with:

The role requires you to work autonomously as well as in close coordination with the IDT rehabilitation team. On the job training will be provided from our skilled and supportive team, and we are committed to evidence-based practice, and ongoing support and training. There are opportunities for contribution to service development including development of NZ practice guidelines, links to AUT research projects, and opportunities for student supervision.
