Do the challenges of IT Security excite you rather than worry you? Do you have a technical background in IT Security with an interest in problem solving? Then you may be the kind of person we are looking for.

The Ministry of Social Development has one of the largest IT government departments in the country. This leads to a wide range of challenges in IT Security and we are seeking an IT Security Analyst to join our busy IT Security team and IT Security Programme to help keep the Ministry safe.

Our team works closely with both the Infrastructure & Core Software and Digital teams to ensure the Ministry has a secure technical infrastructure. This means you’ll have a wide range of platforms and technologies to learn to secure. It’s a challenging, varied, fast-paced work environment, with on-going professional development.

As an IT Security Analyst, you will focus on

The ever-changing threats to our services

Monitoring systems and staff behaviour

Triage and analyse IT Security incidents

Spending time involved in specific projects offering advice and helping the delivery of solutions

Supporting and guiding other security analysts

Technical design review of new solutions

Helping to create new training and educational material for staff

Building strong working relationships across MSD and the IT community including the CISO team

This is a hands-on technical role working in a 24x7 environment. The role includes an on-call roster.

About you

You are an IT professional with security experience and enjoy tackling challenging problems to find solutions. You have experience with security monitoring and response, implementing solutions and are familiar with the latest technology and trends in the security environment. We value perspectives from people who have different life experiences and we particularly encourage you to apply if you're from a group who is under-represented in technology.
